How Amazi is redefining the skincare game

We all have different skincare routines but trends can erupt, changing the approach for many. One of those is the coffee scrub, which Amazi Experience has pushed to master
Founded by duo Divya Vasant and Sekela Lisa Mgcotyelwa, it aimed to create a platform for empowering women. Over time, they built a skincare brand that would prioritise healthy products over cheap production

For the past decade the beauty trend has been a pain for many, with amateur mixes and formulations that have caused rashes or abrasions due to not understanding the products’ specifications. Not understanding that caffeine can temporarily affect the appearance of puffiness and skin firmness but won’t erase other skincare ailments outside of boosting circulation and smoothing rough areas
Made of sugar, jojoba, almond, baobab and marula oils along with shea and cocoa butter, the pair pride themselves on focusing on organic reclaimed coffee grounds
“Coffee is already a small ritual and moment of pause for so many people, which felt naturally connected to the experience we were creating at Amazi,” shared Divya
“There is something playful about taking something you sip and enjoy and reimagining it as something that leaves your skin feeling smooth, soft and refreshed.”
One of the newer aspects of coffee scrubs as part of beauty routines is their inclusion in men’s skincare. For men who may prefer a straightforward approach, the Amazi team says this was considered due to many men preferring uncomplicated products that do not require a lot of time to use
Through the combined ingredients, Mgcotyelwa shares that it is the secret to an effective scrub, unlike the homemade versions, that have often gone viral in the past
“With homemade exfoliants, it can be easy to scrub too aggressively or use a mixture that is too coarse for your skin. Gentle application is just as important as what is in the scrub,” she said
