Austrian skincare company to open U.S. headquarters in Roanoke, bringing 400 jobs

ROANOKE, Va. — An Austrian-based skincare and nutrition company is establishing its U.S. headquarters in Roanoke, bringing an $85 million investment and more than 400 new jobs to the region

Ringana, which describes itself as a farm-to-product company focused on environmentally friendly skincare and nutritional products, will bring advanced manufacturing and life sciences operations to the city

Roanoke Mayor Joe Cobb said the city’s role as a transportation hub was central to securing the deal

“So we’ve got, you know, air cargo here, we’ve got railroad, we’ve got truck shipping. So all of those things are important to them from a distribution standpoint. And so all of those things helped connect the dot here,” Cobb said

Cobb also described Ringana’s workplace model as a draw for the region

“So it’s very much a farm-to-table, farm-to-product company that is both environmentally friendly and also employee friendly. So they create a culture in their workplace that is friendly and conducive to employees,” he said

Cobb said the city has an existing talent pipeline through Virginia Western Community College and the city’s DAYTEC Career Technical Education Center

“How do we bring higher paying jobs to the area? We want to reduce our poverty rate. How do we do that? Well, we have higher paying jobs. We have pathways so people can be employed in those jobs,” Cobb said

Ringana currently employs more than 800 people globally. The new Roanoke operation would more than double that workforce in Virginia alone

An official opening date has not been announced. Site work at the future headquarters on Ordway Drive and employee training on the new Ringana campus are expected to begin sometime this fall
