Namibian content creator Taimi Nuuyango (26) started filming beauty tips from home during the Covid-19 lockdown

What was meant to be a creative outlet through YouTube quickly turned into a professional career

Last week, Nuuyango became the first Namibian content creator to represent the country in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the Forbes Africa Leading Women Summit 2026 due to her unique content-sharing skills

“The most significant moment of my journey so far came when I received recognition from Forbes, a milestone that has shifted my perspective on what it means to be a content creator,” she says

After years of consistently posting content in an industry that was still developing locally, she says the announcement served as a massive affirmation of her hard work

In an environment where digital creation is not always seen as a serious career, being acknowledged by a global financial and business authority proved that her discipline and strategy had paid off

Nuuyango says the Forbes experience was about much more than just a personal title

“The achievement was a win for Namibia as a whole.’’

Because Namibian creatives are often excluded from global digital conversations, this recognition provided a rare moment of visibility for the country’s media industry

“Professionally, it has opened doors for me to connect with influential women across the continent, allowing me to represent my heritage on a much larger stage

“The recognition has also made me more intentional about how I use my voice,” she says

Nuuyango describes the increased visibility not as pressure, but as a sense of purpose

She says she is focused on showing young Africans that their background does not limit their potential

Looking ahead, Nuuyango says she wants to explore travel storytelling and impactful brand collaborations

She remains grounded by the lesson that consistency is the foundation of long-term success

She says the legacy she hopes to leave is one of impact, using her global platform to open doors for the next generation of Namibian creators to be seen and heard
