Umbro and Aitor Throup are continuing their ongoing creative dialogue with Project [3], the third instalment in their collaborative partnership
Set to be previewed in Paris to coincide with Men’s Fashion Week, the project sees the British sportswear brand and Argentinian-born, UK-based designer continue to explore the future of football and performance-led design. Rather than approaching sportswear as a fixed uniform, Project [3] looks to the body as its starting point, using technical construction, considered materials and Throup’s sculptural design language to rethink how clothing can move, function and exist in relation to the wearer.
The collaboration follows two previous projects between Umbro and Throup, whose work has long sat at the intersection of fashion, anatomy, movement and subculture. With Project [3], the pair push further into a world where football codes are not simply referenced, but reimagined through a more experimental and body-conscious lens
The collection will be previewed at Galerie Mitterrand, 79 Rue du Temple, Paris, from 25th to 29th June, coinciding with Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Project [3] is expected to launch to consumers from January
