The festival of Diwali will begin on November 6 with Dhanteras. November 7 will be observed as Roop Chaudas. Diwali will be celebrated on November 8 with prayers and rituals dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha

This year, astrologers have differing opinions about the date of Govardhan Puja. According to the Samrat Panchang, Govardhan Puja will be observed on November 10, a day after Diwali. However, according to the Sarveshwar Jayaditya Panchang, Govardhan Puja and the Annakoot offering will be performed on November 9 itself. Somvati Amavasya also falls on November 9

Until Bhai Dooj on November 11, different auspicious timings have been prescribed each day for worship, lighting lamps and shopping. Astrologer Pandit Purushottam Gaur said that due to the sequence of dates this year, the Diwali festivities will continue for six days

Astrologer Dr Pandit Durgadatt Shivdatt Shastri said that householders can perform Mahalakshmi Puja during the Pradosh period. Auspicious timings for worship are also available during the daytime at commercial establishments
